Ron, you can find several with a Google or Yahoo search (click on "Images"). Flickr seems to have a growing assortment. Still, there aren't as many photos of Spike as you might expect. I wonder why that is?

Ted, thank you for this information. I have been trying to get pictures of the band from 1945 to 1960. I haven't located many on the internet. Can you direct me to a source for the pictures. Best Regards, Ron

Hi, Ron,
The Ink Spots parody starred band members Sir Frederick Gas (with the 'natural' hair), Freddy Morgan, and Bernie Jones.

Hi, Sunni,

I've posted a photo of Charlotte with Spike's Other Orchestra in the Forum section.

I would like to find a photo of Spike Jones' orchestra showing harpist Charlotte Tinsley - because I have the harp
Charlotte used when she first worked with Spike.

Hi, Glenn, Yes, sometimes Spike had has secretary sign his letters... so the letterhead doesn't prove the signature is really Spike's. Can you make a scan of your letter? I can probably identity the signature.

Hi, Jaime! The Perez Prado number appears on the Paramount VHS, "A Spike Jones Musical Wreck-We-Um." Unfortunately the Art Tatum clip has never been issued, but the segment appeared on YouTube about a year ago. It might still be there.

I came across an old letter from Spike, on his letterhead, apparently with his classic signature, How can I tell for sure if it is authentic? Does anyone have a copy of his signature?

Reporting broken downloads...
Hi,

In the last few days I received some reports of "broken" downloads. When I check them, they seem alright to me. (I even tried to download them whilst being logged out).

When you report a broken download, please specify what is going wrong. Is the file you received not ok, or does the download not start at all, what browser, etc.
Just a simple click on the "broken download" button isn't helpfull for me and I can not help you downloading the file you want. If you want me to get back to you, please include either your Login-Name (if you're registered) or an email address. I will not misuse it, I only send you a reply on what I found (and fixed if needed).

Thanks,
Roy

Moved

Hi,

The site has moved to it's new (hosted) location. I hope that the google adverts will start to pay for the hosting eventually.

Enjoy the improved speed and reliability!

Cheers,

Roy

Welcome!!!

I hereby welcome everyone to the new layout of the site.

After approximately 7 years I decided to change the site drastically and switch to something new and (maybe) more appropriate. I also moved hosting companies to have more disk space (huray!) for downloads.

As of now the old site is gone. (Well backed up for historical reasons)

I hope you'll enjoy the new environment, which allows more interactivity and can be a meeting point for lovers of the great music Spike Jones and the City Slickers made.

At the moment I have moved everything from the old site into this new framework and I will do my best to add more songs to the download section soon.

Feel free to post your comments and ideas into the forum, or PM (Private Message) me, or e-mail me at spike.site at gmail dot com.

Enjoy your stay!
